Well the Sydney Quilt Show is over for another year. Thanks to everyone who came to see me and say hi, and those of you who came to mug me for Calico and Ivy prizes as well! That was a fun competition, I think we will look at doing that again next year.
I thought I would give you a little look at my friend Lisa's exhibition at the show. Lisa Walton is not only my very good friend (lucky me!) but also like totally talented and famous and stuff, having not only won prize in quilt shows all over the place but also the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for Quilting Teachers at the International Quilt Festival last year. If you are going to Houston this year you will see the exhibition she has been working on for the Scholarship over the last year.
Lisa was the NSW Quilt Guild's featured artist at the show this year, and her exhibition certainly drew some crowds.
Here are a few of my favourite quilts, all shown with Lisa's permission of course.
This on is called Firestorm. Lisa and her husband Peter hand dye all of Lisa's fabrics themselves, and they sell them in their online shop, Dyed and Gone to Heaven.
This in my absolute favourite. I think if I could own any quilt in the world it would be this one of an Australian bushfire. The pics don't do it justice, it really is just amazing in real life and I especially love the little pieces of dark velvets in the bottom section to represent the ash of the charred ground after the fire. I just love it.
I feel a little sheepish after that display leaving you with pics of my quilts but I did just want to show you one more time my quilts hanging in the show with their ribbons before they come home.
The Night Garden (template sets to make this quilt are available from me - sarah@sarahfielke.com)
A Wing and a Prayer. The light is awful, I swear it's not this grey!
Happy Tuesday everybody.
