Oh boy. No phone line, no internet connection and then this morning, no power! I think the universe is trying to tell me something. However I have disregarded the universe's advice and am working out of the Gloria Jean's in our local Borders Books. My desperation knows no bounds. At least there is coffee.
I'm so glad my classes are back. I am only teaching two regular classes at present, both from home, but all the girls in them have been coming to me for classes for ages now and it's like having friends over for coffee.
I have some quilt pics to show from from my clever girls on Wednesday night. Sam finished a quilt top she and her daughter Paris have been working on. Sam has done the sewing, and 12 year old Paris designed this quilt herself!
Hmmm. Must find a better way to photograph quilts in my new room.
Fiona has been working on finishing this quilt that she made using vintage quilt blocks and Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Her machine quilting looks fantastic!
Sue has been hand piecing these blocks from my Jazz Hands pattern for a while now. She carried them all around Australia with her on a recent camping trip. We played with a few different fabric options before we found this - I love the chirpy yellow check with the starry blocks.
Fun!! Speaking of fun, this past weekend I took my Charlie to his first Head of the River. This is a huge rowing event between the private GPS schools in Sydney. I used always to go because either my brother or a boyfriend were rowing, and besides it was just a great fun picnic day! The venue has changed since I was there last, but the Olympic Rowing Centre was amazing and we had great fun. Here is Charlie's school, Shore, coming in first in the big race to win the Head of the River Cup, the 1st IIX.
OK that's it girls, got to go and do some work now before my Pre-Paid internet runs out!! Before I go though, lots of people have asked me what all the noise was in the background of the Pat Sloan radio interview I did the other day. And here's the culprits:
Cockatoos and Rosellas, my backyard is full of them and they were welcoming the sunrise. I took these this morning while they were making the same noisy welcome.
