As you can imagine, I meet a lot of quilters. I often get asked which quilter I haven't met, who I would most like to meet and take a class with? Easy, the same ever since I first started quilting, top of my list. That would be these two.
Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston.
I tend to not really geek out over meeting people but when Erica told me Gwen was coming to New Zealand for Symposium my first thought was my airfares, and my second thought was - I'll bring the mountain to Mohammed!
And so without further ado, the frantically thrilling news that Gwen will be here in Australia teaching in July! You can find her at
Amitie in Melbourne on July 2
Precious Time in Toowoomba on July 4 and 5
Cottage Quiltworks in Sydney on July 7 and 8
Quiltsmith in Sydney on July 10 and 11
and she's giving a lecture in North Sydney on the night of July 11, details from CQW or Quiltsmith. Bookings are through the individual shops not through me.
Gwen will be teaching from her new books, 37 Sketches and Liberated Medallions, depending on which shop you are at.
Trust me when I say that this is a class you don't want to miss out on - and that I will be firmly seated in classes in Sydney with bells on! See you there :)

hooray for you!
Gwen was hosted by my guild for FOUR amazing days of classes. Best four days of my quilting life!

I was lucky enough to have 4 days in a class with her at the Stitching Post in Sisters, Oregon. She's a lovely woman, very dry wit and fun to be around ~ plus ~ she's a great teacher! Have lots of fun!

How wonderful. I did a great Workshop with her in New Zealand a few years ago and have made so many quilts based on her ideas ever since. Great lady, lots of fun too!

I tried to book her at Amitie and she was booked out on the day they advertised. I guess I will just have to read about it.

I think most of her classes are booked out now Melissa, there are a few spots at Cottage Quiltworks and Precious Time still I think. Which obviously doesn't help if you're in Victoria!

I was fortunate enough to meet Gwen several years ago when she was a speaker at our local quilt guild. She is SO much fun! I took her needle-turn appliqué class and haven't thought about appliqué the same way since. Have fun!
