Ok so if you know ANYTHING about me, you know that I love hand quilting a really really lot. Like, better than everything. And what I love even more is teaching all of YOU to hand quilt and creating new hand quilters!! To that end, here's a little prezzie from my friends at Craftsy - a FREE hand quilting tutorial with me. If you like it, why not check out the rest of my Craftsy class?

thank you Sarah! I enjoyed the lesson.

Thanks for the video tutorial Sarah! When I first started making quilts I hand quilted everything I made ~ taught myself. Just up and down through the layers. This way is so much more quick and love the look of the thread.
Your class is on my wish list!

Thank you for such a great lesson. I love your quilts and you have def inspired me to keep practicing hand quilting until I can do a whole quilt. Machine quilting stresses me out :-), but the small things I have hand quilted always leave me much more relaxed. Hope to take your crafty class this year. Tanya :-)

Beautiful video! That is just tough to do, I haven't seen anyone do that in a while with such passion and creativity as you do. Thank you so much for the ideas and all the help.

Thanks for that tutorial, Sarah. I'm a beginning hand quilter and have done 2 medium quilts and one baby quilt. Maybe someday I'll get good at it (I hope!). I love your accent!

I am taking your class, which is brilliant! I have only just started quilting with Perle No 8, for 16 years I have hand quilted with waxed cotton. I love the effect the Perle has on the quilt.

Hi Sarah
What a WONDERFUL demonstration of hand quilting. I am just preparing my first quilt for hand quilting, and now can't wait to get stuck in, although I do have one problem and that is that I have to spend a lot of time laying down in bed due to a severe back complaint. Having watched your demo, would you say it was possible to do hand quilting while laying down, as I was rather hoping this might be something which I could fill those boring hours with?
I'd love to hear back from you.
Thanks
Judi

Thank you for sharing such a lovely hand quilting tutorial. I'm now inspired to be brave and give hand quilting a try, your directions are quite clear and encouraging for viewers. I'd love to meet you at the Portland Spring Market 2013, dreaming of course. Wishing you continued quilting delights and inspiration!

Hi Sarah,
Thank you so much for the hand quilting tutorial. I started my very first quilt inspired by the hand quilting in the book Material Obsession. I found hand quilting less fearful than machine quilting, and ever since then, I was hooked to the 'look' and 'feel' of a hand quilted quilt. I have thus hand quilted 2 baby (one of which is from the book titled Candy Shop), 1 double and 1 queen sized quilt, and currently hand quilting another queen size quilt.
I agreed with you on the 'feel' and 'look' of a hand stitched quilt as opposed to a machine quilted quilt.
I have never used a quilting hoop to do the hand stitching. Therefore, I am looking forward to try it on my next quilt and hope to improve the consistency of the stitch.

Hi Sarah - I love hand quilting and I'm always sad when I hear someone say they won't try it. It really is therapeutic, as you said! Thank you for encouraging others to try!!!

Wonderful video! Will look up your class on craftsy. I have the intention of hand quilting a smallish wall hanging I recently made and with this video, feel much more confident about trying it! Thank you!

Thank you Sarah. I have hand quilted a couple of smallish quilts and will be better equipped for the another one day.
I am coming to the final stages of sewing my/your North by North East quilt top together. I noticed you had your quilt machine quilted. I'm not sure my domestic machine will handle a quilt this size, yet I'm not sure if or how I could hand quilt it either. Do you have any suggestions??? You can see some of the quilt in my post from yesterday (22 Jan).

Hi Sarah, just wanted to let you know that I'm a convert after almost 4 years of making quilts. I have tried to hand quilt before but until now I wasn't happy with how it went. I recently just finished making Stars in Your Eyes after about 2 years in the too hard basket and I feel proud of myself I finally finished it. So I decided I was going to give hand quilting another go and now I love it! (Even if my style probably looks a little weird to anyone else it's getting the job done!)
