I did! I turned 40 and I haven't told you anything about it yet. In fact I've been trying to write a post about Africa, but it seems so huge a subject I'm having trouble. It will come.
In the mean time, when I got home, I was 40 already and Damo the Sherpa had organised a party in my absence. All on his own. With no help from me. Having never organised himself out of so much as a paper bag, I was a little apprehensive, but he came through like a champion.
30 of my close friends and family at home for a sit down dinner, with caterers! He moved all the furniture out and he and the boys decorated all day, with fairy lights and red and white spots and my quilts hung everywhere!
My SIL the amazing Ceece made red velvet cupcakes and spottie lollie bags with my favourite sweeties in. She even put my noggin on top of all the cakes. One day I will forgive her for that, that day is not today.
The food was yummy, the wine was cold, the company was wonderful - the perfect evening really.
Thanks for a perfect evening darling. Have another drink.

Aww :) That is so cool!! What a fab way to celebrate a great birthday. 40 was perhaps my favorite age to turn - you finally have a great grip on who you are and can appreciate a life built up. This was such a sweet, caring gesture. I just love that they hung your quilts for the party, too.
