So we are still wandering through the end of our renovation, having run out of cash but not ideas. I wanted a small cabinet for the boys bathroom - it's not a big room and there is only one small over the sink cabinet for keeping everything in. Budget being $0, when I drove past an side table by the side of the road a few weeks ago, I thought, why not?
I sanded it, and took the horrid handles off the drawers:
The bathroom is painted a soft apple green, with white tiles and a latte, dark blue and white shower curtain. The towels are all dark blue and brown and the fixtures are shiny silver. I painted the cabinet a latte gloss:
Then I Mod Podged some Anna Maria Horner fabric onto the drawers, added some shiny silver handles and voila! New furniture.
Next I'm tackling our TV cabinet, which is looking a bit old and sad, and two footstools.... I'll keep you updated.
In other news, did you know that Quilting: From Little Things is now available as an ebook for Kindle? You can even buy it in chapters, which gives you a technique, a dolly quilt and a full size quilt for only $3.59. If you have a Kindle this is a total bargain. The covers for the ebooks look awesome:
This one is for The Night Garden - it teaches you step-down piecing, and this one is for Whirligig, which teaches you Appliquing with Bias Strips.
All the chapters in the book are available this way. Cool huh?

Love hearing the way books on Kindle are developing.... by chapters.... still don't want a Kindle for my quilt books but have accepted that in five years that is probably the way it is going to be - like it or not. I was in the book store yesterday for an extended visit - yikes, when did it turn into a toy store? At least 25% of the floor space was toys... nice toys...but not book stuff..

Wow! I love the cabinet! I love picking up curb furniture and making them new. This is a great idea...I can't wait to see your TV stand. I just ordered your book yesterday from Amazon....Old Fashioned book version!

I just downloaded the Applique with Bias Strips chapter on my Kindle (I {heart} my Kindle)--this is so cool; I am still hesitating about starting a project and yours sounds great. Thank you--Julierose

Love this little dresser!
I found a dresser ~ no drawers tho ~ in an alley way. It's oak and why anyone would want to get rid of it is beyond me. I'm putting in shelves and making it a book case, love finding treasures.

I love your little chest of drawers. I found something similar some years ago-my husband did it up and it looks great. I don't know how such lovely pieces of furniture could just be thrown out in the cleanup heap. Lucky for the people who find them.
